Three hours sewing on a belt, you will not be able to sell it for enough to compensate your time. None of my business how anyone wants to run their business, but this is a prime example of why you need machines. For the crafter giving away stuff to friends, no, they don't need it. ANYONE wanting to run a business to make money, hand sewing these are a sure way to being broke. Makes about as much sense as hand stitching totes. You can make 10 belts a week. Someone with a machine can make 20 belts in a day.

At 3mm hole spacing, using a Vergez Blanchard #9 pricking iron, my saddle stitching is about 25 inches per hour after the holes are pricked and pierced through with an awl. Faster if my thread is shorter (one arm span) but longer if my thread is longer (several arm spans).

It's really the holes to make a difference. Like you see everyone selling stuff with a lot of big holes in them and big holes are really easy and really fast to sew through. Big holes take very little skill. Nice tight holes take a lot of skill.

Yes I also put my 🐅 thread in plastic zip-loc bags, then into a plastic tub with lid per thread size .06, .08 & 1.0 I do this because the wax is like a magnet for 🐕‍🦺 hair 🤦‍♂

Great idea brother. Hope you are doing well. I’d recommend guys build their strap to length and skip all the buckle hardware. I hope we are all wearing our straps underneath our coat, eliminated the buckle streamlines the interface with your suspenders and is just less cumbersome. Easier to build too. Just a thought.

As always great videos. Sorry I'm not that good at writing English. I anticipate you are using the KS Blade Pricking Iron 5 mm spacing. Due to your experience how will the stitches (with the 0,8 mm Tiger thread) look like going down to 4,5 mm spacing? Have you ever tried the combination 0,8 mm Tiger and 3,85 mm spacing? Will the thread be to dominate or bulky? Will it look bad? Thanks in advance :)

You know that you don't have to start with enough thread to finish the job. Start with a comfortable length and when you run out of thread, just start with new thread two stitch holes back. It will be just as secure and unnoticeable. It's actually stronger because Everytime you pull your thread though the holes it wears on the thread. By the time you get to the end your thread has been pulled through every hole. Also if you stick your needles through your work at the same time you'll avoid sticking your needle through the thread. It's the same procedure if you happen to break the thread. Just rethread your needles and start two holes back. You'll make yourself crazy having to deal with that much thread at one time.

I really like your material. I'm primarily a handtools woodworker. I'd say "journeyman" at this point in my craft. I'm slowly starting to include leather working into my skillset. I learn best by just watching someone who doing their thing. No words, just honest skillful work. Your videos are top shelf stuff. Cheers, friend. ✌️
